Acharavi is quite a large resort but small enough to explore on foot.

However, getting around is made easy by using a number of options:  Walking, hiring cycles,  mopeds, motorbikes and cars or the local bus service which operates regular services to surrounding resorts and the fabulous Island capital - Corfu Town.

Observe some of the locals using their own mode of transport - donkeys !  Another reason why Corfu and Acharavi have so much character.

Getting Around

A less physical way of getting around Acharavi is to hire a car.

Most hire companies provide a map free of charge.  The island is only around 60km long and 27km at it’s widest point.

This means you are never far from the sea and the scenery is stunning.  Take a break from driving to stop at one of the many village bars and tavernas you will find on your travels.  Beware - drink driving is not tolerated and the legal limit for alcohol is actually less in Greece than in some other countries.  Do check the small-print and ask what is covered by the insurance.  No hire company covers damage to the underside of the cars, the wheels, tyres or windscreen.

Mopeds and Motorcycles

Mopeds and motorcycles are a fun way of getting around the island.

Beware - using the roads here is different to the UK.

Wear a crash helmet

it is the law!

The Bus Service

The bus service is a convenient, cheap way of travelling and there is a regular service which crosses the North of the island.

The bus stops are in the centre of Acharavi near the roundabout.
