Acharavi is a well developed resort and you will find all you need on your holiday.

There are a number of supermarkets (the larger ones being on the main road), tourist shops, two banks, numerous cash machines, a pharmacy, walk-in Doctors/Dentist surgeries, a bakery, butchers, fish-merchants and lots more.

Acharavi has certainly changed over the years and, although rich in facilities, has managed to keep it’s charm.

Acharavi - Facilities

Tourist Shops

There are some fabulous shops in Acharavi selling a range of goods including hand made crafts, olive-wood products, gold and silver, clothing and we must mention the  bats, balls, beach towels and inflatable toys that you will need for the beach and pools. Shop around !!!  It’s great fun to spend some time browsing.

Money

It is wise to bring traveller's cheques in sterling and change them at a local travel agent or at the bank.  However, for emergencies, there are a number of cash-machines situated on the main road where you will be able to draw cash from credit/debit cards.  The issue of changing money one of the most frequently asked questions on discussion forums “Shall I bring Euros or sterling”.  The answer is that you will always get a better exchange rate in the resort.  Licensed exchange offices charge a commission of 2%.

Phoning Home

Payphones are situated at various points on the main road in Acharavi.  Some are now coin operated.  For others, you need a phone card which is sold in most supermarkets and tourist shops.  You can buy either 3€ or 6€ cards.

To dial the UK (for example) you would dial 0044 (then drop the first zero of the dialing code) then the remainder of the number.  Be advised - the dialing tone sounds like an engaged tone - don’t think that the phone is out or order !!
