No holiday is complete without a good beach and the Acharavi area has many.

The main beach in Acharavi comprises a mix of sand and shingle.  An attractive quality is the depth of the water itself which remains waist height for around fifty metres from the shore-line - excellent for children.

Another excellent attribute is the scenery.  From west to east you can see the neighbouring resort of Roda, the island of Erikoussa, the stunning mountains of Albania and then the nearby resort of Almyros.

There are a number of restaurants and tourist shops on the beach providing a peaceful afternoon drink/meal and the usual buckets, spades, beach-balls and inflatable toys for the kids.

The beaches are clean and are swept regularly.  There are ample bins placed along the edges of the sand for rubbish.

Sun-beds are available for hire for a small charge.  Just choose your beds and umbrellas and someone will appear to take the hire fee.  There are 2 lifeguards based on the Acharavi beach and a system of coloured flags is used to inform you of whether the sea is safe enough to swim in.

Acharavi beach is a safe place to swim due to it’s shallow waters but strong currents can appear quite quickly so do take note of the colour of the flag flying.

Snorkelling is good popular and there are some great spots around the Acharavi area .  There are also a number of diving schools on the island.

For the more liberal minded there is an unofficial nudist beach at Almyros.  However, nudism is illegal in Greece and one should respect others, particularly Greek families who may use the beach at the weekends.

Water-sports are good fun and boat hire is also an option should you wish to view Corfu’s beautiful coastline from the sea.

Acharavi has it’s own water-park called Hydropolis which is situated at the far end of Acharavi (in the direction of Kassiopi).  This is popular with all, especially families.
